History of 55 AND Over Club
(taken from the original history archives)
A group of older citizens in Wray, Colorado showed a concern and need for organized programs for the social and physical wellbeing of older people. The 55 And Over Club was officially organized in September 1974.
Anyone over the age of 55 is welcome to attend the second Thursday afternoon, monthly meeting of the 55 and Over Club for the association with others and the program and recreational hour it offers.
The mini-bus furnishes transportation for both business and recreational needs. A Special 3 day pleasure trip was taken to the Black Hills, South Dakota in 1975. An overnight trip was taken to Pioneer Village in Minden, Nebraska in 1976. A balanced meal and friendship can be found at congregate meals 2 days a week.

55 and over people like to be active and self-sufficient and recently purchased a building for a Senior Center in Wray, Colorado, and are involved in several fund-raising projects to meet the needs of this venture.

Something's happening here....
Over the last several years the center has had its ups and downs and our year of 2020 wasn't helpful. Our numbers diminished and our seniors were not being served as they should've been. But we are back! Working with the Love A Senior Company with its Love a Senior Center Project, we have reignighted the sparke to get us back and provide all the things our founders intended for our senior community.
The Love A Senior Project begin in January 2023 with the analysis process, creating a team, talking to locals and understanding the dynamics and goals of the organization. We opened on March 1, 2023 for 3 days a week serving coffee, hosted by locals, bringing in fun and games, etc.
In April we began to bring in a lunch provided by a local restaurant. It was a huge success!
May we continue the coffees, added a few more activities and the list continues to grow.
In the next few months we are exploring the possibility of re-opening the amazing kitchen and providing our own meals, as well as meal delivery to local shut ins.

More to come!
